I Wish I Had Started Sooner
I have just started reading Hands Up! and am three chapters in. I must say Jennifer is a real Renaissance woman. It's a very compelling book.
Our business has been operating since 1938 and has been handed down from my great-uncle and grandfather, to my dad and uncle, and is now run by my brother, two cousins, and me. The company began by delivering bags of coal to homes for heating, transitioned into heating oil delivery, and today focuses exclusively on HVAC. What makes us unique is the depth of institutional knowledge we've carried forward through each generation. We have technicians who can work on old oil furnaces and pot burners just as comfortably as they can install and service the latest VRF heat pump systems.
As for our marketing journey, we worked with the same web marketing team for 17 years. They were founded by our former Yellow Pages representative and became trusted friends. Although our WordPress website was only two years old, we were spending $12,500 per month, with $8,500 dedicated to PPC. The promise was always that SEO would eventually carry the load and allow us to reduce spending. In the last year, many of our reporting meetings began with, “AI results are cannibalizing the numbers, so we feel you're doing better than the reports show,” which left me feeling uncertain about where we truly stood.
At the same time, I was becoming increasingly interested in AI and wanted to understand how it could improve our business. After joining JustStartAI, I knew I had found the right place to learn, grow, and be supported. When I had the opportunity to meet Jennifer and Stephanie at a ServiceTitan Lunch & Learn, I was absolutely star-struck. Shortly afterward, I signed up with CI Web Group, and our new website has just launched.
